Camping Resort El Delfín Verde Playa de Aro was founded, as Valldaro Camping & Bungalows, as a family project 60 years ago on the Costa Brava, Spain, growing throughout the 1960s and consolidating itself as an innovative campsite committed to the environment right up to today. 1963: The beginning of Valldaro Camping

Camping Valldaro was created in 1963 by Ramón Mestres and his wife Rosa Brugada, parents of Marina, Ramón, Gloria and Núria Mestres y Brugada, who would continue the management of the family business.

Mr. Mestres was then a businessman dedicated to food distribution who ran an important food chain. His entrepreneurial and commercial spirit launched him into the adventure of creating a campsite between Castillo de Aro and Playa de Aro.

At the beginning it comprised a few ploughed fields, mostly vineyards and olive trees, which with time, effort and success, expanded until it reached the current 18 hectares.

The 1960s: The expansion of tourism along the Costa Brava

In the 1960s, together with a small group of campsite business owners, partnerships were formed and their establishments started being promoted like never before. They sold sun, beaches, and local charm. The peseta was devalued at the beginning of the season and along came the tourists.

This generation of entrepreneurs learnt the campsite trade on the job, through the experience they received from their guests.

The 2000s: The challenge of sustainability

Mr. Mestres and his family focused their management on the continuous and innovative improvement of services and facilities. This brought them international recognition throughout their history and is currently one of the most recognized campsites in Europe.

Another challenge that the Camping Resort El Delfín Verde Playa de Aro has successfully faced since 2000 is ecological management and the application of an environmental management system supported by EMAS and ISO 14001 certifications.

Today’s Camping Resort El Delfín Verde Playa de Aro

Camping Resort El Delfín Verde Playa de Aro now has 1,200 pitches, of which 200 have accommodation units which are available to rent. It also has two large recreational areas with five swimming pools, a hydromassage pool with a spa, a football pitch, sports courts, a playground, two bar-restaurants, two supermarkets, a mini golf course with a snack bar, paddle and tennis courts, a mini club, Wi-Fi service and entertainment for children and adults alike.
